THE CALL

Did we hear that voice
Did we even hearken to the call?
Did we understand the truth
Did we even let it sink?

I wonder
Why when we had it so near
Only far did we run.
Our feet carried us further
To a world of despair
A world of pain
A sea of anger and greed
A desert of emptiness.

Did I hear that voice?
That sounds like Me
For now not we, but I
Can respond to the call.
Only God speaks
Only one human reaches it
And then
I am qualified.
